Huawei predicts that sales of smartphones in Nigeria will grow by about 35 percent before 2015, The Punch reported. Huawei Devices Nigeria MD Tony Liangwei told a device dealer workshop that this would translate into 30 million smartphone sales in the country in the next three years.
He said a shift in consumer focus from phones with basic functionality to smartphones means that in the years to come, the opportunities for device dealers will be much greater.
Liangwei said it is essential for dealers to partner with Huawei as it is set to introduce devices that will revolutionise the mobile and internet technology market at unbeatable prices.
He said Huawei organised the workshop formally to introduce its devices and to educate dealers on the background, core values and organisational culture of the phone maker, as well as its growth agenda. The three major product lines highlighted at the seminar were Huawei’s handsets, mobile broadband and home devices.
