The handset’s Carl Zeiss optic camera boils with variant photographic possibilities, it uses signature oversampling technology and clever algorithm to compress the information of 41 megapixels into just five, enhancing the fine detail and quality along the way.

The camera is capable of shooting images with resolution height of up to 5368 pixels and width about 7728 pixels with other photographic features such as Exposure compensation, still image editor, full screen viewfinder, self timer, red-eye reduction, continuous auto focus, auto Exposure/focus, video light, geo-tagging and face Detection.

41-megapixel is a big kill! Sure, how is that possible? Coming from just a 14mm thick device? The answer is simple!

Software photography does the trick by replacing bulky lenses, camera mechanism and hardware with algorithms and codes. This could also be drawn from the fact that image quality is not about the number of pixels as much as it is about pixel size.

PureView technology is possible via the smart sensor axed around the five autofocus prime lens made by Carl Zeiss; the aperture is fixed at f/2.4, thus by pixel for pixel at 1.4 microns, the sensor’s pixel size is identical to that of the iPhone 4S.

Also, it uses five times more pixels per image than an 8-megapixel camera. The camera records 1080p and 720p HD video at up to 30fps with selectable continuous autofocus and stereo audio features.

The 4″ AMOLED screen of the Nokia 808 PureView is 360×640 pixels by resolution (typical for most Symbian-core smartphones), this presents a little disappointment, as it displays gaudy images of solid colors and icon edges; also enlarging text gets them pixelated.

However, these shortcomings are compensated with its superb contrast ratio, viewing angles, and ClearBlack layer that improves visibility under direct sunlight and also reducing screen reflection to the barest minimum. The Xenon flash is right there beside the Super camera, for clear night vision and stream stabilization.

The smartphone has a 16GB built-in storage and also expandable up to 32GB via the microSD card slot. Just enough for endless pictures storage and HD video recording, especially for casual photographers who are gearing on the hype and dynamic flexibility offered by Mobile photography that is gradually carving out a huge niche as the future of photography.
