Nigerian CDMA operator Starcomms has enhanced the roaming capacity of its networks through a partnership with DexterTech, a universal GSM operator. Starcomms CEO Logan Pather said the service roams on more than 580 networks, with free roaming on more than 100.
The service comes with a Nigerian, UK and optional US line bundled on a single SIM. Pather said the partnership would allow cheap local and international calls directly from users’ mobile phones and reduce international business mobile phone charges by up to 80 percent.
He said DexterSIM works in more than 80 percent of the world’s most popular destinations with more countries being added. Pather said countries where free roaming is possible include South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Trinidad & Tobago, Turkey, the UK, US, Vietnam, Zambia, Albania, Algeria, Andorra, Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, the Faroe Islands, Finland, France, French Guyana, Georgia, Germany, Gibraltar, Greece, Guadeloupe, Hungary, Iceland and India.
DexterTech CEO Adekoyejo Odunaiya said Nigerian subscribers would be able to take their Nigerian number abroad and roam absolutely free for the first time.
