Vodacom Business Nigeria, one of the leading providers of pan-African corporate total communication solutions has unveiled its lastest solution-Virtual Hosting Service, VHS, an advanced communication solution aimed at adding value to business, service and innovation through cloud computing.
The VHS, according to the company, were built specifically for companies wishing to establish effective and efficient environments. This service is available in Nigeria and other West African Regions.
The solutions include provision of complex hosting utilities using VMware technology; addressing the skyrocketing energy costs; ensuring hardware availability and comprehensive server monitoring; SAN storage and 24 hours support, among others.
Speaking at a recent customer forum in Lagos, the Head of Product and Services, Vodacom Nigeria, Mr. Wale Odeyemi said the solution would give businesses the ability to host their web and mission critical applications on the high speed internet, thereby allowing the end users uninterrupted access to content.
He said the new solution was cost effective, which guarantees bottom line IT investments with reduction on both capital and operational costs.
According to Odeyemi; “this is based on the fact that customers do not need to purchase their own hosting equipment but use shared infrastructure which lowers cost thus allowing each customer to only pay for the resources used.
“Customers do not need to modify their operating system while using the VHS which guarantees efficiency, control and security which according to him, has been of great concern to customers.”
Explaining further on the benefits of the VHS, the Managing Director, Vodacom Business Nigeria, Mr. Guy Clarke said the new solution was developed to expose “our consumer’s business to a world of possibilities.”
“With our VHS, customers have the ability through virtualisation to run the latest software and business applications including Windows, Linux and Solaris operating systems on one physical server with 99.99% uptime guaranteed”, he assured.
Endorsing the service, the Systems Engineer, Cisco Systems, Mr. Tosin Amusa noted that, with Vodacom’s VHS, all communications were certificated based and encrypted, and called on the public to make use of the new service offering for better data storage.
